A hair grows an average of approx. 15 cm a year. Whoever decides to grow their hair must realise that long hair gets older and older and thus, during a long hair's lifetime, it is much more frequently confronted with external and mechanical influences, which put it to a strenuous test which is extremely stressful for its structure: UV rays, saltwater, incorrect care, dry heating air, frequent and hot blow-drying, rubbing, etc, are just a few of the numerous enemies which make it hard for long hair to maintain a healthy growth process.
It is amazing how much the structures of individual hairs can differ: Whilst a hair is close to the scalp it is mostly healthy and stable; the hair tips, however, suffer from the inevitable wear of the external keratin layer. The consequence: Long hair looks extremely dry and porous; the ends split and break off.
